"Ancient Beacon" / Kastro (Castle)
Distance: 7.5km | Duration: 4-5h | Diff: Moderate (T1/T2)
Highest point: 695m | Elevation gain: 586m
Itinerary:
At the outskirts of Trizina we approach a dirt road that introduces us to a signed path that gradually ascends and at halfway from the slope it becomes steeper.
At the top of this slope the path lead us to the "gate-passage" which is formed by the rocky 'faces' in front of us.
Here is the first stop to admire the view of Saronic Gulf and it's islands.
The path, slightly uphill, is smooth and soon we reach the plateau at the base of the hill of the ancient beacon.
Scrambling the short path till the peak of the beacon the view is expanding. The coast of East Peloponnese, Saronic and Argolic Gulf is unfolded 360 degrees before us.
We follow the same way to return, paying attention for the intense downhill part in the middle of the route.
OVERNIGHT IN OUR or YOUR TENT In The Land Of The Wolf
We offer a secure place for overnight, close to where our horses rest, eat, drink from the water troughs and play in the moonlight.

Hiking route B (the long route)

"Ancient Beacon / Kastro (Castle)
Distance: 9.50km | Duration: 6-7h | Diff: Difficulty (T2/T3), strenuous
Highest point: 695m | Elevation gain: 1180m
Itinerary:
The route starts from Devil's Bridge. It's sharply uphill and strenuous. The path traces often disappear in the undergrowth.
Throughout the way the view, truly stunning, is the prize for the strenuous ascent. After about three hours we reach the ruins of the ancient outpost. This is one more ancient beacon, from which is also visible the peak of Mount Dirfis in Evia and Mount Parnon in the Southeast Peloponnese.
The Castle is situated about 2.250 m. further on the NW.
A long chain of rocks connects the two points, forming a wondrous, natural wall, while on its right side there is an all green plateau.
Crossing this plateau we have a feeling being almost out of the known civilization. We often meet a small number of horses and goats grazing on the small meadow.
We see the castle and we arrive at the base of its hill from the dirt road.
Calmness and serenity reigns supreme.

On the midway of the slope the path becomes steep and we have to be attentive.
After about 2 hours walking this path lead us to the outskirts of Trizina village.

Devil's Bridge
"Devil's bridge" - The name excites the imagination.
However, the gorge below is soothing and romantic. Lush aquatic vegetation and shady plane trees keep the place cool.
Fairies footprints and dew drops enchant the stalactites in the rock pits. Dolines and flowing water among the large rocks invite us to enjoy and explore nature.
